Test shots for Theme 1

Statement of intent Theme 1

Theme: Static Caravan Site
Title of the theme: The land that time forgot

Intentions/purpose of the photography to be undertaken
My initial idea was to do a study of the river Mersey in Northenden, I was struck by the differences on either side of the water on one side was affluence and a golf course on the other a derelict pub and a caravan park but when I took pictures of the caravan park it took on a different meaning, instead of decay I found a place out of time, which was cared for so decided to focus solely on the caravan park. I would have like to have photographed some of the occupants but I didn’t see any and didn’t have the nerve to knock on their doors

Reasons for selection of theme (including inspiration from the work of others)
Initially the theme was Austerity Britain and the haves and have nots, as either side of the river is very different but after seeing the caravan site that changed, my main influence was Martin Parr I like the way he makes ordinary situations interesting

The photo imaging equipment and medium that will be used and why
I'll be using my Nikon D3100 camera, with a standard lens size 18-55mm and a UV filter lens.
The images where taken hand held
Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual message
I was hoping to bring out the vibrancy of the area keeping everything in sharp focus to show how colourful the area is
The photos will be presented as they were taken; no manipulation other than cropping was used

.

How light quality can be used to help convey the visual message
Natural light was used though white balance was set to cloudy as the weather was overcast

Safety considerations

I was aware of not obstructing the pedestrian walkway or the road at the back, and not to stray too close to the edge of the river
